How tap tempo works

Tap along to the beat you have in your head: a song you like, the edit you are cutting, or just a feeling. We time the gap between your taps, average the last few, and turn it into beats per minute (60,000 divided by the average gap in milliseconds).

Every Soundroll track has a BPM on file, so you get the tracks within 6 BPM of your tempo, closest first. Press play to preview, open a track to license it, or see the whole tempo range in the catalog.

Tip: if the reading is half or double what you expected, tap on every beat instead of every other one, or the other way round.
